Munch, Pompidou

When I was in Paris last October i visited Centre Pompidou and was treated to two major exhibitions – Yayoi Kusama and Edvard Munch. As i’d already seen the Kusama exhibition at the MCA two years prior (and to be honest, it was exhibited much better in Sydney) I was more intrigued to visit the Edvard Munch exhibition.

I really took to this series of artworks where Munch has tried to recreate the portrait of this particular woman through various attempts and mediums. It fascinated me to try and think of the reasons he was never really happy with each of the attempts – what was missing from each piece that he was trying desperately to convey.

Underneath It All: Paris

There is this bridge that leads you from the Musee D’Orsay to the Jardin de Tuileries in Paris. Everytime i cross it i always forget that you need to go underground this tunnel before you can go back up the stairs and reach the Tuileries Gardens.

I was walking underneath here at 4pm in the afternoon, no one was around and the tunnel felt quite scary and I just remember feeling quite intrigued as to why I felt so scared when I very much knew at the top of the stairs awaited the beautiful Tuileries Gardens.

Musée d’Orsay

There are many things to love about Paris and my visit to Musée d’Orsay was definitely high on that list. We weren’t allowed to take any photos during our visit which killed me because it houses one of the most beautiful interiors.

I would give anything to be able to sit in there right now….
