I woke up this morning and opened my window to see the whole town covered in white and snow falling pretty hard.
It was the first time that I had seen snow here, I got some in Munich but it was just flakes whereas here it was snowing really heavily.
We got to the station (which is about a 10 minute walk from my dorm) and bought the tickets whilst I popped into the supermarket to buy some snacks because apparently the currency in Liechtenstein is Francs and some places don’t accept the Euro. I ended up buying this box of Milka chocolate to share with everyone. Milka chocolate is so good, it’s like a better version of Cadbury.
We hopped on the train to Feldkirch which is the last city in Austria before you go into Liechtenstein. From there we caught another train into Vaduz which is the capital city and finally arrived!
After starting a giant snow fight (which I later regret as for the rest of the day everyone tried throwing snowballs at me – although they actually missed! To the point that i would be standing still and they still couldn’t even hit me) we walked to the bus station to get into the city centre which was pretty empty (this is a recurring theme for everywhere we go!)
We went into a cafe and there was this huge dog which I was so excited to pat (chucking a Freda here) and had a cappuccino (It’s been so hard to order Mocha’s in Europe)
After we finished we just went around the city a bit more.
I noticed that all the clocks here on display are Rolex’s ahah
And of course, the art gallery of the city 🙂
Well in case you’re wondering.. really there’s only one thing to do in Liechtenstein and that’s to visit the royal family’s castle which sits above the city. To get up there you have to trek up this path which is HELL when it’s all snowed over but the view of the country is definitely worth it.
The snow was so heavy so this was what i was looking at for most of the time
So after about an hour of trekking/snowfights/sitting down we finally reached the top of the mountain which was bittersweet because I knew you couldn’t enter the castle but literally..this is all you could see from the top.
On the way down we made a mini snowman 🙂
